On the Hippie Trail: Iran
This budget hotel in Tehran (like the Amir
Kabir where I stayed on my way home) was populated
mainly by Hippie Trail wanderers.
I joined a repatriating Pakistani student and a couple of British travellers bound for Australia, in a minibus taxi from the Turkish-Iranian border to Tabriz. There we caught the night train to Tehran, where I had to make visa arrangements for Afghanistan.
A bus took me to Mashhad, the last stop before Afghanistan.
